Santa Claus & The Toddler

We've had a weekend to get caught up on tasks and prepare some more for the Christmas holidays. Dillon didn't like the mantle over our fireplace when we moved in so he's been busy building a brand new one this weekend, putting the finishing touches on it, and hopefully the paint will be dry by tonight so I can hang our stockings with care and get ready for Santa.

Speaking of Santa, we took a trip downtown today to the Grove Arcade where he is visiting. He was a lovely man who had much patience with our little guy. Luke is most definitely in a "stranger danger" mood nowadays and so he's not very warm with people he doesn't know. We didn't know quite how he would respond to meeting the big guy, but deep down we did. And while he wasn't as warm and cuddly with Santa as he was last year, we were able get our picture with Santa with minimal tears.

Santa was very kind and said that Luke could stay with dad if he wanted. We also promised to leave him cookies on Christmas Eve and he said his favorite are chocolate chip (just a hint for everyone else leaving cookies for Santa, too!)

We did get to see some precious moments with other kids, the boy and girl in front of us were excited to meet Santa and to ask for an American Girl Doll and Hex Bugs. I teared up a little at the joy in their eyes and the excitement and magic of what Christmas brings.

Luke told Santa that he'd like a tool table (I hope) and Santa promised to bring it to him. We're ready for the big day and a few days off from work (and maybe some snow. Only on Christmas Eve or Christmas day!)

Presents for good girls and boys!

Napping before Santa

Entertaining ourselves in the car while Luke napped. A typical picture of me and Dillon :)

Santa shows Luke his sleigh bells...

These aren't from today, but from our friends Rob & Amber's wedding. Rob kindly sent these to us today!! Thanks for the sweet pictures!

Eric contemplates his future as a father. :)

Dance the night away!
