We've had a great, long weekend! At least my weekend has been longer, Dillon had to work on Friday. Boo.
Luke's daycare was closed on Friday and is closed tomorrow so I split the difference and took off Friday with him and tomorrow Ma & Peepaw will watch after him. Friday, Luke and I had a day together and we had a lot of fun. My mom and I took him over to the Mountain Play Lodge off of Sweeten Creek. I figured he would run himself silly on the slides and climb all over everything. And at first he did, until he found the train tables and it was all over. All he wanted to do was play with those trains. So we let him play with trains to his heart's content. We had a coffee and let him go and do whatever he wanted. I'm not sure why I hadn't taken him there before (we had gone once, but he was too little to do any of the fun stuff) and now I have a place to take him whenever he needs to get some energy out.
Yesterday, the Easter Bunny came a little early. I had spoken with him this week and explained we would be going to the early church service on Sunday and asked if he could pop in Saturday morning instead. He said "sure thing!" and sure enough, there was a basket on our kitchen table first thing that morning. Luke got his coveted "Wal-Mart Mac" truck from the cars movie and some candy and stickers. He was so excited about that truck and has carried it everywhere this weekend. He now has 4 "Mac's" and he lines them up in a row. We spent yesterday afternoon celebrating Baby Josie's first birthday! Luke liked watching Josie opening her presents and even borrowed some to play with.
This morning, we set the alarm (I hate doing that on the weekends.) and we got ready for the early service at church. I figured that church would be a madhouse at the 11:00 service so we rushed and got ready. Luke wore an outfit that was Dillon's when he was 3. I was afraid that it would be too big, but it fit him perfectly. He looked so cute in his little bow-tie. We gave him the option of going to the nursery or staying with us, but he knew if he stayed with us he had to be quiet and respectful. He did ok with that and had a few moments where he was a little louder than what I'd like, but for the most part he did excellent. The people around us may have been a little irritated, but I guess they'll just have to get over it. (sorry, not sorry). After church we went to my mom and dad's and had spinach dip, deviled eggs, ham, hash brown casserole, green beans and pea salad. Holy moly, I'm still not hungry. Mom and dad got him an Easter basket with a soccer ball and a whirly gig that flies! I don't think I've mentioned this, but Luke's been taking soccer lessons at school during the week so he was very excited to get that! He did say he'd prefer to play baseball, but I couldn't find a league he could join that accepted 3 year olds so I promised next year we'd do the baseball thing.
After Luke's nap, our neighbors invited us over to hunt eggs so we walked up the hill and they were kind enough to hide LOTS of eggs that had goodies inside. Luke and Hannah had a blast finding the eggs and then opening them to find candy and quarters!! We had such a good time.
It seems like we have weeks were nothing is happening and then, BOOM, it all happens at once. We've had a great time hanging out with friends and family this week and are looking forward to a food truck showdown, seeing Book of Mormon in Knoxville and Luke's birthday in the next few weeks. There's no slowing us down!
This was from last weekend when we ate at Marco's... :)
Yep, he ate a chocolate bunny for breakfast.
WalMart Mac!
Rob and Baby Beckett! Her 1st birthday is coming up in June! Lots of celebrations!
Such a pretty spread... Laurie did a wonderful job!
Checkin' out the cake
The Cregger Family
That cake was delicious!
Easter morning
Dillon had beet teeth so he was trying not to show them off. HA
Grace has a hidden egg in his pocket!
Hannah leaned in to her mom and said she had a secret... she whispered "I love you!" So sweet!
This post is for Dillon... He's been begging for me to post pictures and videos from the past few weeks, I've just been a little tired to update. My apologies... ;)
We haven't been doing much exciting. Hanging out and enjoying the pretty weather (except for today, hence why I'm probably updating). We've played outside most of the time, and Luke's favorite spot is down at the bottom of our back yard in a dirt patch. He takes his little construction toys down there and moves dirt. We haven't really done a whole heck of a lot, just trying to get by with work and such.
Easter next week kicks of a busy spring with birthday parties and work event for both Dillon and myself. This weekend we did color Easter eggs. The past few years, I haven't tried to color real eggs with Luke. He's always been too little and his birthday tends to fall really close to Easter so it's always hectic to get that done. I thought this year would be really fun to dye eggs so yesterday while Luke napped, I cooked the eggs and when he woke up we fixed the dye. He loved plopping the eggs into the cups and looking at the pretty colors when they were done. Unfortunately, this morning he wanted to transfer the eggs from one Easter basket to another and he slung the full basket over his arm while trying to get down off the bar stool. You can probably guess where this is going... several eggs plummeted to their demise from the height of the counter resulting in a meltdown from Luke. We'll probably have to get some more eggs and color them sometime this week.
We've really enjoyed the spring weather. It's always nice to open the windows and get outdoors. We're looking forward to enjoying this summer with a trip to a cabin and Dillon's 30th (!!!) birthday.
He looks so big now. I can't believe in a few weeks he'll be 3. :(
A few weeks ago at Pappaw's house.
Luke made a book at school all about him. One of his favorite things to do was play with daddy. <3
Legos!
He's doing this thing where he sticks his tongue out now at the camera... :-/
Luke and Dillon have a game where Luke has to have his shirt on his head and he "toots" and then he flies. I don't quite understand the rules of the game, but he loves it!
