Trick or Treat!

Happy Halloween!

The fun day has finally arrived and when Luke woke up this morning the first thing he said was "MOM! Today is Halloween and we get to go trick or treating!"

We've had a hard time in the past trying to find a good neighborhood that isn't absolutely nuts or that isn't completely dead, or the houses aren't too far apart. UGH. You'd think in a city like Asheville that you would easily find a place to go, but not so. We were going to go back to Biltmore Lake until Dillon's co-worker was telling us about a neighborhood behind his house that was exactly what we were looking for. Plus we had easy parking at his house and could just walk over! WOOOHOO!

We started with trick or treating at my mom and dad's and their neighbor's house and then we moved on to the big neighborhood. Charlie and Luke both did extremely well and Luke really enjoyed running through to the next house. This neighborhood was exactly what we were looking for and you could easily make a loop around to each house. Luke's bucket was full halfway through so we have plenty of candy to enjoy and then Seth gave us the majority of candy he had bought (and had no trick or treaters) so we are all set with sweets.

I have pics to post from this past weekend and our visit in Virginia, so bear with me until I can get another post done. This past week has been absolutely crazy and it's not going to get much better until I get done with our 5K on Saturday. I feel like I'm just treading water right now, so Sunday I'll share all of our family pics from this weekend!

Happy Halloween y'all! :)

This morning before school. Today was dress up day!

No one noticed my shirt, which I thought was super funny!!

Maw and Peepaw provided LOTS of candy!

Thanks, Seth!

We walked through Biltmore Baptist's fall festival and took some popcorn. HA!

Pumpkin Carving, Anniversaries and Family!

Whew. This week has been a busy one. We celebrated our anniversary, took a trip to Lake Lure, carved pumpkins and took a trip to Virginia to visit family. Needless to say it's been a little crazy.

Wednesday was our anniversary so we all loaded up after work and drove down to Lake Lure. Luke was very excited to see where we had gotten married (although he's been there before, he just doesn't remember). We ate dinner at La Strada, which was exactly "meh", and then walked over to the place where we were married. They've turned the building where we had our reception into a spa but the garden area is still pretty much the same, even 9 years later. Luke liked throwing the gravels.

We also carved up our pumpkins this week even though we haven't put candles in them yet. We had a good time scraping the guts out of them and then toasting pumpkin seeds which we've been snacking on all week.

Dillon's mom and step-dad were so sweet to offer us a date night for our anniversary. We had asked if they would watch the kids so we could go have a night at Lake Lure, but Charlie's sleep had turned so miserable that I just didn't want to ask them to take that on. She's still picky about who puts her to bed and then she was up several times at night. Of course, as soon as we said we wouldn't go, her sleep habits went back to semi-normal. Instead of going to Lake Lure we decided to go home because things are so busy here in Asheville this time of year and it's so hard to get anywhere near downtown or restaurants. We decided that Grammy and Russ could watch the kids for an afternoon and we'd go out somewhere in Virginia. We ended up going to the Damascus Brewery and having dinner at Rain (apparently Abingdon has the same issues that Asheville does during peak leaf season because I think we only got in because Dillon's brother, Jon, works there).

We had a really good time catching up and just relaxing a little bit. We also got to visit with a lot of Dilon's family which was really nice. We're looking forward to Thanksgiving when we get to head back up there for a few days!

We gave her a container of hummus to keep her occupied and this was the result.

Our tradition, 9 years later we've doubled in size.

Under the blanket that I made for Dillon! I worked on this for 3 months and I meant for it to be a Christmas gift, but when I finally got finished I was so excited I just gave it to him. HA! These are all t-shirts that Dillon had but didn't want to get rid of.
