End of September

This month surely went by quick. We're down now to about 3 months until the new baby arrives and I think we're ready to meet her. I've got a few finishing touches for her room and really now it's just the waiting game. We have two little showers coming up and this was the last weekend that we have no plans until she comes in December. Stress city.

This weekend was nice. We spent some time running around and checked out some of the antique stores in Asheville. We didn't cook once at our house and it has been glorious (although I do need to go straighten up the kitchen right now). Yesterday evening we went out to the family fun night in Fletcher and got free popcorn and saw fireworks. Luke had never seen fireworks before so it was a little scary for him. Dillon ended up taking him to the truck to finish watching because they were too loud.

Today was laundry catch up, grocery shopping day which really eats into the weekend. We cooked out hot dogs with my mom and dad this evening and Luke got to go play in the dirt piles in the new construction next to their house. He was filthy by the end of it and was belly crawling down the dirt mountains. Dillon's currently on the front porch trying to shake the dirt out of Luke's shoes and clothes.

I'm excited for October. It's always one of my favorite months and the mountains come alive with all the different colors. The trees are already in change mode with some yellows and red tinting the trees and I love where we live because we get to see it happen gradually. I'm also excited for some pumpkin picking, hayrides, Halloween and celebrating our 8th anniversary (I had to count on my fingers how long we'd been married)... It's one of my favorite times of year, even if it is one of our busiest.

One of the fun things at the festival last night was "touch a truck." Luke got to ride on a fire truck, a police car, a Caterpillar, and a concrete truck.

He smelled the popcorn so we had to go find it.

Dillon said he wasn't sure why my phone made these photos look like a 1970 Polaroid, but they did! ha!

Fireworks!

DIRT!

Dillon climbed up on the wall and took a picture of my mom and I peaking over their fence watching Luke.

Strong guys!

Pregnancy outtake. I used my birthday money and got my hair cut on Friday. I LOVE the cut and how she fixed it so I went as long as I could without washing it... and made Dillon take my picture, ha!

Almost 27 weeks... only 13 weeks to go until she's here if she stays put until her due date... 11 weeks if she comes as early as Luke did!

Turning 31 & A Morning at the Fair

Whew. What a week. I don't know if it was because it was a full moon or if I'm just not able to go 110% right now, but it was a little rough. Working late several nights and trying to stay caught up with everything else made for one tired me. I didn't cook one night last week and am super thankful for parents who will cook dinner for us a few nights of the week.

My mom and dad also took care of Luke allll day Friday (he stayed home from school to help bake a cake and play with Ma & Peepaw). Then they took care of him that evening so that Dillon could take me out to dinner since I turned 31! I worked on my birthday so I was frazzled and run-down at the end of the week, but a much needed date night with Dillon was much appreciated. He treated me to dinner at Chestnut in downtown Asheville and it was SO good. We tried several plates included the best fried green tomatoes ever. I think that Dillon and I may have felt a little out of place (like we weren't fancy enough ;) ) but we had a great time. It made for a really great birthday. AND, I'm writing my first blog on my new little Chromebook that Dillon got me for my birthday to add pictures and type blogs. I love this little thing, it weighs next to nothing so I can take it with me anywhere. Plus it's better than a touch screen tablet because I have a keyboard and my screen isn't streaky with fingerprints.

We had a good "birthday weekend" too with some pancakes at Ihop for breakfast yesterday morning with Ma and Peepaw to celebrate mine and Peepaw's birthday and some general relaxing and running around. This morning, we had a great time with our friends, the Wyatts, at the fair! We had never been before, so it took us a little time to figure out how it all worked, but once we got it down, it was great! We road the "tram" across the fair to see what was going on below, and then spent some time looking at the animals. We then found the rides and Luke and Dara tore it up. They rode everything that they could (and even some that made me too nervous to watch) and begged to ride more even when we were out of tickets. We had ice cream and then we were all a little broke so we headed out.

Luke is definitely Dillon's child when it comes to riding rides. I'm always super nervous around them and I've never liked roller coasters. Luke loved it though... and even rode a bigger kid roller coaster. I felt like those parents of the Olympic gymnast who kept holding onto the rail while their daughter participated. I held my breath the entire time, but he had no qualms about going. It was really the first time that I realized I have to let him go a little bit and do things that he enjoys even if it scares me. I'm a work in progress...

I'm hoping for a quieter week and hopefully I won't be falling asleep on the couch at 7:00. The house is semi-clean, I've got some meals planned out and other than the gas crisis here in NC, I'm hoping for a more regular schedule.

Haha, Dillon on the tram ride! Up close and personal...

The Wyatts on the first ride!

This guy was probably the biggest bull I've ever seen. Plus his nose ring... sweet fella.

They also had a helicopter and plane. Luke climbed in the helicopter and then jumped out because he said it was about to take off.

Luke was a gentleman and let Dara go first, he also cheered her on as she climbed up the rope ladder!

Longest ride ever... the ride operator was super sweet to let them keep going, but I thought Luke was going to climb out or puke on Dara and the other boy on the ride. It all worked out ok though.

Ice cream break! His shirt was covered before we left.

Me not watching Luke on the swings and being nervous.

Me dressed up before dinner on Friday evening. 25.5 weeks pregnant and I feel like I've "popped" over night... I'm officially uncomfortable.

Labor Day Weekend and a Morning at the Arboretum

We've had a nice 3 day weekend. I really think that if we could work 4 day weeks, I could get so much more accomplished in my personal life with that extra day off.

We've had a good balance this weekend of staying busy and active, but also getting things done around the house. Saturday we spent the day shopping for "back to school" fall clothes and Saturday night I was going stir-crazy so we headed out to a Tourist's baseball game. Luke loves everything about going to see a game from eating alll the junk food to watching the players warm up and start the game. He was even asked at the beginning of the game if he'd like to play some of the games in between the innings, but he made some excuse that he didn't have baseball shoes so he couldn't go on the field. (???) I think he was just a little shy so we said maybe next year he could try it if he wanted to.

Yesterday was grocery shopping and laundry day. We cooked out steaks yesterday evening with my mom and then Luke wanted to wear his new work boots (we bought him a pair of Keen boots, just like Dillon's work boots). He insisted that he had to go out to Daddy's work to get in the dirt. Dillon put Luke's boots on and out they went. We let him stay up late and they didn't even get home until 8:00. Dillon kept texting me asking why we never do that because Luke was having a blast (not so sure how glad Dillon was to be at work when he didn't have to be, Ha!)

Today, we tossed around some ideas of what we could do. We finally landed on going out to the Arboretum because they have their Lego display out and Luke could run and run without us having to make him stay right beside us. I don't think we've been to the Arboretum in almost 3 years, so it was nice and we realized that we should go more often because Luke loved just running. In addition to the Legos, we also saw they have a new train display. They've built a little town with train tracks and every Saturday and Sunday they run the trains. One of Luke's favorite videos is this movie where they just show model trains running so he was VERY excited. We've promised him another trip out there one weekend soon to see the train. They even run Thomas trains, I know, I know, you can barely contain the excitement.

After nap time, we ran out to Luke's daycare so he could practice riding his bike. One of the things he gets to do in his preschool class is have bike day on Thursdays. We had to run out and get a little bike for him because the one he had been gifted had many problems and it was just cheaper to get a new bike. So, Luke is the proud owner of a Marshall (from Paw Patrol) bike. He's still getting the hang of pedaling but we promised him with a little bit of practice he can go super fast soon.

Whew... I'm really sad to see this weekend and this summer go. I love fall though,so I'm really looking forward to all it brings, even with it's extreme busy-ness. Dillon said glumly this evening while we had dinner with my mom that our next long weekend will be Thanksgiving. And while that seems forever away, with all we have going on, I know it will be upon us soon. I'm feeling the stress so I'm trying to make my lists and check them off which I hope will make me feel better. I'll try to keep updating here, but please forgive me if there's an absence... It's about to get crazy! :)

24 Weeks tomorrow! This is a big day as it's viability day and it means that she has a pretty good chance of survival should I go into labor now. I've pretty much held my breath to this day, so fingers crossed it all still goes smoothly until December.

Lookin' for Legos

An acorn!

Trains!

He rarely takes a serious picture anymore...

First day in preschool!

The check up went well last week and they finally got her profile. She's no longer breech so we should be good to go!

We even caught her yawning. It was so cute on the screen because it didn't look this scary... and you could see her sticking her tongue out. She's a super quiet baby and doesn't kick near as much as Luke did.

At the baseball game! Luke's shirt was covered with nacho cheese.

Our new obsession is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Luke woke up first thing this morning and wanted us to turn it on. Here he is doing his "turtle moves" on the couch.

Worn out after running at the Arboretum and a plate full of bacon at Moose Cafe.

At Dad's work last night!

A quick video of him riding... I have another, but for some reason it's not uploading... Will try again!
