Hospital Photos

When you have a baby, the hospital has a photographer come in and take baby's first official picture. Most of us have the one picture where we're laying in the bassinet and most of the time crying. At our local hospital they have a professional photographer come in and take a lot of photos and not just photos of the baby, but of the whole family. They then give you an extensive price list of all the packages you can order with your brand new baby's photos! When our friends, Josh & Lauren, had their baby, the photographer did a slideshow with some sweet music that ensured you wanted to buy their photos. Luckily, we got by without the slideshow because I'm sure I would've ordered every package available. Even though I didn't buy a whole bunch of prints, I DID get the CD with all the pictures they took. Without further ado, here are the photos...

Growing Already

Lucas is 9 days old and we can already see changes in his little face. He's starting to get acclimated to the world, eating every 3 hours during the day and at night holding out for 4 or 5 hours. He's waking up a little bit more and taking things in, it's pretty cool to see how he's starting to respond.

We've taken him out to a few places. Yesterday we traveled to the Farmer's Market and their annual flower show where we bought some things for our yard. I never realized that when you take a baby out, EVERYONE wants to look and see the baby. It kind of freaks me out a little bit but I guess it's just where I'm new to all of this.

He's such a super sweet baby with a great personality. He doesn't get upset at loud noises, which is good because our dogs are constantly barking. We always have some sort of noise going on and he seems to sleep through it all. Not to say that he doesn't have his fussy times, but for the most part he just likes hanging around.

Dillon and I are doing well, making adjustments. Dillon starts back to work on Monday and I think we both dread it. It's been such a nice week just hanging around the house getting to learn about our baby. It is supposed to rain all next week so maybe he won't have a full week of work and kind of ease back into things. As for me, I get to be home until July. I still tear up a little just thinking about having to go back to work and leaving Luke at day care but I'm trying to not think about it until the day comes.

Things are good though! We couldn't be more blessed with our little family and our extended family. It's good times for sure.

A quick update and more pictures

Day 4 of being home with a baby! Things are going well, we have had very little sleep but spend most of our time just staring at the precious baby. Dillon took this week off and he's been a huge help. He really seems to like changing diapers, which I'm glad to oblige him. My mom's also been staying with us and has been a HUGE help. She's cooked, cleaned and done laundry and hopefully soon I'll be back on my feet to help her out more. We've had lots of good visits from family and friends and I'm hoping to get a sushi dinner on Thursday evening!

Little Lucas has his moments. He likes to stay up until 1:00 in the morning and then he usually crashes for a few hours. It's a big adjustment but it's the best feeling in the world to see his little eyes open and look around. I really do think I could wake up in the morning and just stare at him all day!

And now for more pictures... I would offer more updates but my brain is a little foggy and I seem to have constant A.D.D. Hopefully, soon, I'll be able to write a little more clearly. :)

Now a Family of Three!

Lucas James has made his arrival! Coming into the world on April 18th at 11:49 AM, he weighed 7 lbs and 2 oz (the exact same as Dillon) and measured in at 19 inches.

We were finally able to come home today, and we're getting adjusted to all the changes a baby brings. At some point I'll tell the story of his arrival, but now I'm a little tired, so I'll make a post with mainly pictures. He's a super chill baby (except for last night when Dillon and I thought we were the worst parents in the world and couldn't figure out that he had GAS  of all things...)

Thank you to everyone for the well wishes and visits and gifts. We're so happy to have him here finally!
