Growing Already

Lucas is 9 days old and we can already see changes in his little face. He's starting to get acclimated to the world, eating every 3 hours during the day and at night holding out for 4 or 5 hours. He's waking up a little bit more and taking things in, it's pretty cool to see how he's starting to respond.

We've taken him out to a few places. Yesterday we traveled to the Farmer's Market and their annual flower show where we bought some things for our yard. I never realized that when you take a baby out, EVERYONE wants to look and see the baby. It kind of freaks me out a little bit but I guess it's just where I'm new to all of this.

He's such a super sweet baby with a great personality. He doesn't get upset at loud noises, which is good because our dogs are constantly barking. We always have some sort of noise going on and he seems to sleep through it all. Not to say that he doesn't have his fussy times, but for the most part he just likes hanging around.

Dillon and I are doing well, making adjustments. Dillon starts back to work on Monday and I think we both dread it. It's been such a nice week just hanging around the house getting to learn about our baby. It is supposed to rain all next week so maybe he won't have a full week of work and kind of ease back into things. As for me, I get to be home until July. I still tear up a little just thinking about having to go back to work and leaving Luke at day care but I'm trying to not think about it until the day comes.

Things are good though! We couldn't be more blessed with our little family and our extended family. It's good times for sure.

  1. Hi Katie- I just wanted to say hi and congratulations! He is a beautiful baby and I'm very glad that it seems all went smoothly, praise God! Having a baby is an unmatchable experience that is hard to fully understand until you have one. There are lots of adjustments and a bit of a learning curve but after awhile it feels like they've always been there and it's hard remembering when you didn't have kids :-)...and it truly is a love that only God could supply and give us as a gift. I pray that this experience reminds you of the awesomeness and power of God and our Savior, the one who created us in the beginning, and that you turn to Him for your strength (especially in those rather exhausting times). "That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness..." Col 1:10, 11. The rest of that passage is a blessing too. Congratulations again! -Ashley
