Happy Halloween 2015!

We've had a great Halloween this year! Luke finally settled on being a fireman with no more thoughts on being a dinosaur. Last week, Luke dropped the bomb (randomly) that he wanted to be a dinosaur and not a fireman. We held our breath, talked up being a fireman allll week, and I secretly had a dinosaur costume in my Amazon cart ready to be ordered. Our perseverance paid off though, and the fireman costume was a hit!

My dad made a yummy pot of chili for dinner and I made some "mummy dogs" which were delicious. The Feaver family came over and joined us for dinner and then we headed to a local neighborhood for trick-or-treating. Luke LOVED it! He didn't want to come home and he only stopped because his feet were so tired. The neighborhood had decorations on several houses and there were tons of kids there. Luke did great at saying "Trick Or Treat" and "thank you" once candy was received. He ran through yards and was really well behaved this evening. We had a good time catching up with Rob & Amber and are looking forward to our trip with them and the Creggers in a few weeks to Gatlinburg.

Tomorrow is recuperating and trying to adjust to the time change. I guess Thanksgiving and Christmas are up next and I've made a dent in Christmas shopping, even though I was hoping to be done by November. I'm close though, so it shouldn't be too much more!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Luke likes to call Peepaw whenever he's on the phone...

Aunt Kenzie sent us a video and Luke thought it was hysterical!

Pumpkin Carving

We've had a short, but full, weekend. I spent Friday working until about 8:00 and then worked yesterday for the majority. When you work most of the weekend, it cuts majorly into your chore time that you usually have so I've tried to cram most of that into today. The house looks decent even if I didn't get any laundry done.

Other than that, the weekend's been pretty nice. The leave have hit their peak today, I do believe, and it's been a beautiful day. We carved up our pumpkins that we bought last weekend and I got to make our favorite snack, toasted pumpkin seeds! We've really tried not to go anywhere this weekend because the tourists have overrun Asheville and it's a wait at any restaurant or a traffic jam on any road.

We're ready for Halloween, I think, although Luke did throw a curve ball this evening and said he was going to be a dinosaur next week. We're trying to talk up how awesome it is to be a fireman and how cool that will be. I guess we'll find out next weekend how that goes.

Pumpkin carving is so much easier outside.

Luke got a rake a few weeks ago and has loved helping in the yard.

7 Years & Pumpkin Pickin'

Whew, that weekend went by quickly. Today Dillon and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary. I think this may be the first year that we haven't gone to Lake Lure. We've had a lot going on so a trip down the mountain wasn't really worth the time to drive down. Maybe next Sunday?

Dillon's mom and fiance, Russ, came down yesterday afternoon and we got to spend some good time with them. We went to lunch, got to see great pictures from their recent trip to Paris and then they offered us an awesome gift of a date night! Dillon and I got to eat at a restaurant called Barleycorn where the food was fantastic. We talked about going downtown or to a movie, but when it came down to it, we just went to Target and meandered the aisles looking at what we wanted to at a leisurely pace. It. Was. Awesome. We did talk about Luke a lot and I ended up buying him a bunch of stuff at Target (new pajamas!), but it was nice to get away for a little bit and celebrate our anniversary. It's been a good 7 years and I think I've got a pretty good partner in that fella. :)

Today, we did our annual tradition with the Wyatt family and went to Linda's Plants in Hendersonville. I know most folks in the area tend to head over to Grandad's Apple Farm, right up the road from Linda's, but we always prefer going here. Not many people are there, you can pick your pumpkin from the actual pumpkin patch, and we always get to take a hayride. We always have a lot of fun. This became an annual tradition for us Luke's first fall and we continue to go there every year (if you'd like to reminisce about Luke and Dara from their younger years, click here and here to see my old blog posts... makes me a little sad...)

We do have some awesome pumpkins to carve out this week (and some good pumpkin seeds to toast, yummy!) I do love a good fall weekend and this weekend is proof of why they are so great!

We had a friend in our yard this week!

Our girl got a good check up at the vet last week. He said she's probably still got another 3+ good years left in her, which puts her around 16. Keeping my fingers crossed we get her for longer.

About as close as I'll get to selfies.

This little pup is in our pictures from 2 years ago...

Dillon measures at 6 feet this year :)

And I'm still short.

Luke's at 3 feet!

And the end to the day... they had so much fun that they sat down and cried when we had to go home!
