Beach Day 3

Welp, we've made it home! Vacation is over and tomorrow is back to the real world. We had an awesome time hanging out and relaxing and I realize I am inundating you with blog posts, but rest assured, after this one they may dwindle down for awhile. I'm having hand surgery next Monday and I'm not supposed to type or drive for 2 1/2 weeks. Yowzah. Unless I can get Dillon to guest blog (which probably won't happen) it may be a few weeks before I get photos and updates listed.

Yesterday was a pretty nice day. It started out all rainy and nasty, but we made our way down to the east side of the island and drove around dreaming about which house we would want to buy and found a quieter public beach. We tried putting Luke's feet in the water again, but he still didn't like the sticky sand and cool water. Maybe next year things will be better for him as he can play in the sand and run to the water. A different experience for sure.

We had probably the worst meal for lunch yesterday, but I guess it balanced out our awesome eating the day before. We went back to the house after lunch and relaxed. Apparently, the island rolls the sidewalks up on Sunday evening because all the restaurants were closed so we drove over to Brunwick and had some Italian food for dinner.

We got up fairly early this morning and got home around 3:00. Luke rocked out at traveling today and even though he didn't sleep the whole trip like he did Thursday night, he still was awesome. He slept a little, ate on the way, and watched the scenery out the window.

Now it's off to unpack and get the house ready for the week. As a side note, I think that I will be making my blog private. After thinking about it, I feel a little strange sharing our information with it free to anyone online. If I have any acquaintance with you, I don't mind you reading. You'll simply just have to shoot me an email at katie.kestner@gmail.com, but I was thinking about it and I had posted all over that we were on vacation this week and our home was empty. I feel it may be best just to have some parameters about who is able to read about our family.

Beach, Day 2!

Man, I've forgotten how hot Georgia can be. While everyone in NC is posting pictures wearing fleece and how it finally feels like Fall, people are still going swimming in the ocean down here and running around in bathing suits and flip flops. It kind of blows my mind what "fall" is like down here.  A perpetual summer. In that sense, I'll be glad to get back to the mountains tomorrow!

Even though it was burning hot yesterday, it was a beautiful day down here. Instead of packing all of the baby's stuff up to stay at the beach, we opted for just a walk. The water still feels awesome, even if it's just sticking our toes in the water. I carried Luke and the sounds of the ocean and us walking put him straight to sleep. He seems to be unimpressed with it all but I'm sure next year he'll love it.

We ate lunch at Iguanas where we had some of the best shrimp ever. I cleaned my plate before Dillon was even done eating! We sat Luke at the table in his carseat and he was so jealous of all the food we were eating. He would smack his lips and reach out to eat some shrimp. Poor baby, he can't have that for another year or so...

We walked around the town again and came back to the house to relax. Mom and I walked down the street to the butterfly garden where they've planted all sorts of things to attract the butterflies. I think it may have been too hot for them because we only saw a few.

Last night, Dillon and I went on our first date since the baby's been born! We went to Coastal Kitchen, where we ate on our honeymoon. The food was delicious and the restaurant has an awesome atmosphere with pretty views. We had good conversation that didn't completely revolve around the baby (we talked about him a little!) and we talked about how it was nice to not eat in shifts or come back to a cold plate, but in the end agreed that we missed having him with us.

Today's our last day here and of course it's raining and muggy. We were going to go to the beach but I don't know if that'll be much of an option. No plans on the horizon is all right with me.

Mmm... bananas for breakfast!
