What a Difference a Year Makes

A year sure does seem to fly by. Seeing as how this time last year, this is what Luke looked like:
Can you make out anything from this? Yeah, neither could I, really. But a year ago today, Dillon and I heard little Luke's heart beat for the first time. After I had taken the pregnancy test, I read online that your next step should be to set up an appointment with your obstetrician. I frantically called the next morning practically yelling into the phone, "I took a pregnancy test, it's positive! What do I do?!" They told me to go by prenatal vitamins and scheduled me for an appointment 3 weeks away. I about choked on my vitamin when they said 3 weeks away. I thought I would need to go to the doctor every few weeks or something, but I was wrong and had a lot of education in front of me. My appointment was the day after Labor Day, so Dillon and I gave ourselves a 4 day weekend and took off for the appointment. I swear, the next time I have a baby, reading stuff on the internet is verboten. I stressed the whole three weeks thinking I would go in for my ultrasound and there would be no baby or even worse, no heartbeat. I basically held my breath until we saw the little peanut blipping on the screen on the 4th of September. And while we weren't out of the woods at that point, the little heartbeat made me breathe just a bit easier.

And now a year later, we've got a sweet, precious boy. One that I could only dream about at this time last year.

In our current updates, we had a pretty busy long weekend. Thursday marked Luke's 4 month check up. He weighs 15 pounds and got 2 shots. He got a fever on Friday, which I thought was from the shots but now I think he must of had this cold/flu that was going around (and that I've had the past few days). I had to go pick him up Friday from daycare and get him home to take some Tylenol. Sunday, my mom and dad came down for the night. We attempted to go see an Asheville Tourists came but halfway through the 2nd inning we were rained out. We came home and stayed around the house until the next day.

We're back at work now and things are plugging along. Lucas is getting so big now I'm having trouble carrying him in his carseat. Plus, it doesn't help that my wrist (that I've had surgery on in the past) now has another cyst. I'll probably be needing surgery again and have an appointment with a hand surgeon next week. Booooo...

Now going from Luke's peanut picture at the top, to his going's on as a 4.5 month old!

Luke went with me to the doctor last week. He slept like this little angel until the doctor came in and  he started wailing. I had to ask my physician to hold the baby so I could make a bottle. Little embarrassing...

Luke and Isa play together!

At the baseball game!

Dillon's back behind them.... I think he was hiding from the camera

We enjoyed Josh & Amy's back porch for grilling on Labor Day

Can you tell our doggies are neglected :( Lols laying on Luke's toys

Everyone curled up on the couch with me. Sorry, Dill, no room for you!

Oh and I forgot! We're feeding Luke solids now... Below is his first take at avocados... Not his fave.
