Oh, hi!

Oh, hi!

It's me. I haven't written in, oh, about a month or so. What the heck have we been doing? When I last wrote, we had finished with our summer camps, we had gone camping at Lake Powhatan and we were gearing up for Vacation Bible School. Whoever said that the days of summer were "lazy" was incredibly wrong.

VBS went off without a hitch and a great week was had by all! It's so much hard work leading up to it, but those sweet faces make it all worth it. We had almost 85 kids registered and it was madness! I think the best night for the older kids was when they got to do volcanoes AND make slime. I heard several parents declare as they walked out that night, "No, you are not opening that slime in the car. And it's to stay outside when we do get home." HA!

During that time, my great uncle Bob was in town. we had a good time with him hanging around and taking in the sites of town. I wish I would have had more time with him on this visit, but things were so incredibly busy, I didn't have much time to sit down and visit.

This past week was really the only week we had this summer where I got to do the fun summer stuff I had planned with Luke. Initially, I had planned on taking Charlie, too, but Luke really enjoyed one on one time with us and doing things that bigger kids can do, so poor Charlie was sent off to school. I'll make special time with her, too, but I still feel bad for her. Last week, Luke and I went swimming, we saw Spiderman at the movie theater and went to the park and rode bikes. I'm trying to get energy out of him while I can. Currently, he's at Dillon's mom's house and I'll have him Thursday and Friday. Friday is pretty booked already, but I'll have to think of something to do Thursday. Friday, we go to meet his 1st Grade teacher and take his supplies into school. I'm excited for him, a little sad, but I love watching him learn and do all the fun things that kids do.

This past weekend, we went up to Virginia and celebrated Dillon's grandma's 94th birthday! She's currently staying in a nursing home for some rehabilitation help, but she seemed to be in good spirits and really enjoyed having a lot of her family close by to celebrate.

So, here's to our new school year. I'm glad it's not a kindergarten year because that was rough. I feel much more comfortable this year, even though it's marking another year gone. Luke has 12 years now until he graduates, which if it goes by as fast as the past years have, it will be here before you know it. I'll blink and it will be here. Sigh.

Oh, and Charlie had Hand Foot Mouth the week of Bible school. It was a weird virus because she only had blisters on her throat and then she'd throw up everywhere after she ate. Good times. She also fell while we were camping and got that nice bruise on her noggin.

That's Luke and his buddy, Reese. They were in the same class this year!

We also went to Reese's birthday and had a blast...

Luke got some good pictures! :)
