Mini Vacation in Tennessee

This weekend we took a few days and traveled an hour an a half away to a little cabin in Sevierville, TN for a mini vacation. We crammed a lot of action into just 3 short days and are thoroughly exhausted today and glad to be home.

Thursday evening we traveled up to TN and met my mom and dad at the cabin. For some reason, Luke was really fussy that evening. I don't know if he is getting another tooth or just the fact it was some place different. Anyways, it was a long car ride to the restaurant with a screaming baby in the back seat.

Friday morning we woke up and had breakfast, got dressed and went into Gatlinburg to the aquarium! Luke is at such a great age to take everything in and he really enjoyed getting to see all of the fish and animals there. All the adults in our group enjoyed it, too! We talked all weekend about our favorite fish that we saw. We had a bite of lunch at a New Orleans themed restaurant and then went back to the cabin for Luke to have his first pool experience! He loved swimming and splashing around. We bought a little float for him that he enjoyed only until he realized he could get out of it and swim on his own (which really meant him wallering everywhere and Dillon trying to hold on to a slippery baby). I think that I may need to look into swimming lessons for him because he loved the water that much!

That evening we went out to the A&W for hot dogs and root beer. After dinner we got ice cream cones that were massive. I think that all 5 of us could have split one of them! We were all so tired that night that we fell asleep before the sun even went down.

Saturday morning was spent shopping at the outlet malls and Saturday afternoon was time for Dillon and I to get out our canoe on the lake! We haven't been out on the canoe for almost 2 years so it was a lot of fun to paddle about and cast a line in the lake. We didn't even get a bite on the line, but it was still great fun.

We had a wonderful time getting away and relaxing for a bit and spending time with family. These times are few and far between but we so enjoy them when we can.

Raisin bread for breakfast!

Everyone's ready for the aquarium!

Luke takes it all in

Seahorses!

Starting in to see the sharks!

He walked for a little bit, but I think the lights made him dizzy.

Mom and dad bought him this little penguin and he loves it! He hugs it all the time.

Pool time!

Swimming!

They have all these little cars at the outlet mall... Luke loved driving in this one.

bath time!

Here are some pictures from mom's camera and my phone... our monstrous ice cream cones!

Don't know why this one is sideways... but a rare photo of the three of us together!

Everyone and the dogs!

Bye bye cabin!

On the lake!

Did I mention it poured buckets of rain on us. We didn't care though... we were just happy to be out and about.

Trying to finish the milk before we go.
