10 Months!

We're two short months away from Charlie's first birthday! And she's already acting more and more toddler like with every day. She's becoming more mobile and on her way to walking and she's getting more sassy every day. She's taken a few steps this month unassisted and is standing on her own more and more with each day. I'd say by her first birthday we'll have a walker.

We do have to make sure that our gate to the stairs is closed now because she is on the move. This is the fun age where you basically just chase them around trying to keep them from hurting themselves. She's into everything and everything she sees goes to her mouth. Paper and dried leaves are her favorite. She only likes to be held when she wants to (which is most of the time). But when she wants down she doesn't want to be held back and she wants to explore. She doesn't like her high chair and she hardly likes her pack n play. Her favorite is to be on her own exploring, but within arms reach of someone. When you do put a load of toys in front of her, she can keep herself fairly entertained for awhile.

Food is still a fan favorite. We thought she didn't like white fish, but we were surprised to find out the other day that she does like it when she downed almost a whole piece when we ate out. I really think that she eats more that Luke most days. We've cut out two bottles during the day and she's now eating around three 7 ounce bottles a day (once at breakfast, lunch and dinner). The rest of the times she's eating what we're eating and slamming almost two pouches at mealtimes.

Her sleep has gotten somewhat better. She's at least going back to sleep after Dillon lays her down at night. Dillon did say she was up several times last night, but I never heard her because I was sacked out with the migraine still. Some nights we're lucky and she goes to bed and doesn't wake up until 6:00 and other times she's up the whole evening into the night and up at 4:45. Whew. Usually she sleeps late when I need her to get up. Isn't that how it always goes?

We're also to the mimicking stage. Charlie loves singing patty cake and clapping her hands. She still hasn't mastered waving yet but she puts her hand up in the air like she has a question. She also loves singing in general and typically sings out when music is on. Her vocabulary is growing in little bits and her favorite thing to say right now is "Uh Oh". Any time she drops something you'll hear her holler out "UH OH!"  We can also say dada, mama, and some other giberish.

At her appointment last month the pediatrician said that she's giving her little eye until she's 12 months and if the clogged tear duct hasn't improved we'll need a referral to an eye specialist to do a minor surgery. It does seem to have improved some, but when she gets congested with a cold it gets worse. Let's hope it's clear in 2 months.

I feel somewhat bad that we're not having a big party for her, but with it being Christmas there's so many things that are going on. We'll probably do cake the weekend before and she of course has gifts so it's not like we won't be celebrating, but I think Luke's first birthday was overwhelming so we're toning it down drastically. Plus, both she and Luke will have tons of stuff at Christmas. We're going to need a bigger house. 60 days until we no longer have a baby. :(
