Christmas Season!

The Christmas spirit is alive and well in our household! Today we spent a good portion of the afternoon in downtown Asheville visiting with Santa and letting him know what's on our list of wants.

The weekend has gone by in a blur and the weeks will remain busy up through the end of the year. I might be starting to burn out already, but tomorrow I should be done with gift shopping so that's one thing checked off. That and I'll do my baking next weekend which should be fun! Oh, and my Christmas cards are out so check and check.

The weekend after that is Charlie's birthday and since she was born so close to Christmas, I'm trying to make that a "Christmas Free Weekend." I really feel like it should all be focused on her that day so I'm hiding the Christmas decoration and doing birthday stuff instead. Her party will be Elmo and Cookie Monster themed since that's alllll the rage in our household right now. I really wish that her birthday was even in January instead of December, but it is what it is and we'll celebrate all the same.

I do love the Christmas season and I'm trying to find peace in small moments. That's not always an easy accomplishment but it's all good just the same.

Dillon's mom and step-dad came down and stayed with us Friday night! We also went to see Kansas in concert!

Wild times!

Charlie still did not like Santa. At all.

Luke shared his list.

And we saw the Creggers!

We got a blow up penguin for Christmas!

Luke's obsessed with the Christmas Chronicles on Netflix. This was his video letter to Santa.

Thanksgiving & Tree Trimming!

Yay! The holiday season is upon us, and we've wasted no time in getting our Christmas spirit on. We've already got our tree up and wrapped presents underneath. I'm currently drinking eggnog while watching Christmas Vacation. It doesn't get much better.

We've had a fairly quiet Thanksgiving. Where we traveled a few weeks ago to Virginia, we stayed in North Carolina at home this year. We had a nice lunch with my mom and dad where we ate good food and did a little bit of online shopping. When Dillon and I got home yesterday, we all took naps and then did a little bit of yard work. The weather was really nice and has really gone downhill today with super cold weather.

Today we did some Black Friday shopping today at the small WalMart in town and then we got our tree this evening. We got that thing up in record time. We got home at 3:30 and by 5:30 we were done. We're switching it up this year and we've put the tree down in our tv room in the basement. This keeps Charlie out of the tree and out of the presents. I could already tell this afternoon that was a good idea because she was tearing everything apart.

So I guess we are ready. This month will be busy. We've got visits to see Santa Claus, trips to Virginia, Christmas parties and cooking galore. I've got my running shoes on and I'm ready to go!

Shopping while cooking!

We labeled our cups. One guess who's cup this is. HA!

She really enjoyed the meatballs.

My trifle!

Going to get our tree!

This is my crazy smile. The kids were driving me nuts.
