All by myself...

Well, not literally, yet. Dillon took off today and tomorrow for a concert he's going to at the Orange Peel tonight so I still have help until Wednesday, but after that I'm on my own! 

My mom left this past Saturday so I'm a little scared of being home by myself trying to take care of the baby and all of the chores at the house. My mom was so awesome, she did all the laundry, cleaned the bathrooms, washed the floors, held the baby when I needed a nap. Yikes - I have a feeling I'll be one tired mama come Thursday. I have no doubt that I'll be ok, it's just a little daunting. 

Luke has been just amazing. Yesterday we had friends come to visit and he wasn't fussy once. He's eating every 3 hours and at the pediatrician's visit on Friday we learned he's back up to his birth weight and has grown a whole inch and a half (20.5 inches!) 

Dillon and I are getting into the groove of things. We alternate diapers and feedings at night (I usually let Dillon do the first and third, and then I take the middle of the night feeding) and having a baby is becoming routine. 

The weather here has been plain terrible. When I was pregnant, I envisioned long walks in the park with the baby. Since I was having him in the spring, the weather would be perfect to take him out in, right? Wrong. We didn't leave the house once yesterday because it was so yucky. Blah. Come on spring, I've only got 10 more weeks to enjoy the weather and I want it to be nice!

2 Weeks & 1st Bath

It's been a little bit of a crazy week. If you're friends with me on Facebook, you'll know that the Sunday before I had Lucas our house caught on fire and destroyed our heat pump and the siding & underlying wood on the house. The week following that, Dillon and I rushed to get estimates and insurance in to try and get things fixed before the baby came. We decided on who to use the day after Luke was born and thankfully the heat pump guys had an opening and could get it fixed that week and the guys who fixed the siding came this week. 

We spent the last few days with hammering, sawing, and loud noises throughout the house. This in turn made our dogs bark like crazy and also the baby very, very fussy. Yesterday was pretty rough with crying and noises and I felt like pulling my hair out. Thankfully, today was better. We took another trip to Wal Mart for groceries and got out of the house a bit. 

We've also been struggling with a blocked tear duct in the baby's left eye. I think I've already called our pediatrician's office with such silly questions. Last week I called because he was eating too much. The nurse was super friendly and gave me some good "mama already knows" advice. Then I called about his eye and all they said was to watch it and put warm compresses on it. No worries. Easier said than done when you have no clue what's going on! :) 

Tonight was first bath night and it went pretty well. I only got peed on once. Lucas is now sleeping before his 9:30 feeding. We are so lucky to have such a sweet, sweet baby.

Hospital Photos

When you have a baby, the hospital has a photographer come in and take baby's first official picture. Most of us have the one picture where we're laying in the bassinet and most of the time crying. At our local hospital they have a professional photographer come in and take a lot of photos and not just photos of the baby, but of the whole family. They then give you an extensive price list of all the packages you can order with your brand new baby's photos! When our friends, Josh & Lauren, had their baby, the photographer did a slideshow with some sweet music that ensured you wanted to buy their photos. Luckily, we got by without the slideshow because I'm sure I would've ordered every package available. Even though I didn't buy a whole bunch of prints, I DID get the CD with all the pictures they took. Without further ado, here are the photos...
