Disney World Days 1 & 2, Traveling and the Magic Kingdom

Yesterday started off our Disney Wowld (as Luke puts it) vacation. It was about a 9 hour drive from our house to Orlando, if our Garmin was working correctly. It got us into Orlando ok, but tried to put us at some other crop of resorts 15 minutes away from where we needed be. It also sent us through congested traffic off the interstate saying it would save us 5 minutes when it really took us about 20 minutes longer... hrmph. Anyways, we woke up yesterday morning around 5 and got dressed and ready for our drive. Luke ran through the hallways screaming about meeting Mickey Mouse and how we were going to Disney! He was very excited and not extremely aware of the length of time it would take for us to get here. When we were driving down the mountain into the Foohills, Luke said "I know Mickey Mouse is down there."

We got to our hotel and after a little confusion found our room. Since we're staying on property, I got a text message yesterday about 1:00 that our room was ready with our room number. The Magic Bands we have serve as our room key and we didn't even have to check in. We unloaded our bags quickly and thought about going over to Disney Springs. When we finally figured out where the buses were to pick us up, there were throngs of teenage girls around. Apparently, there is a cheerleading convention down here this weekend and they are everywhere. I could write a whole blog on this, but let's just say, I'm really glad I had a boy. These girls are scary.

Anyways, the bus was full to Disney Springs so we just stayed at the hotel, had a cheeseburger in the food court and came back and got ready for bed.

This morning we woke up around 6:00 and got ready to head over to the Magic Kingdom. I found a Dunkin Donuts a few miles away and Dillon went to get coffee, only to find out that it doesn't exist and Google is wrong. That was a little frustrating. But we pressed forward! We caught the bus around 7:15 and made it to the Magic Kingdom right as they opened and that made all the difference. We walked in to meet Mickey and Tinker Bell and even Anna and Elsa (Luke keeps referring to the castle as "Elsa's Castle") We rode on rides with minimal wait times. We ate lunch at Be Our Guest and I had made reservations and ordered our food ahead of time so it was relatively easy, even if it was a little loud. We also rode on Aladdin's Magic Carpet, Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan's Magic Flight. Luke liked the Magic Carpet ride, but was not a fan of the rides in the dark. I've altered a few things so that we can avoid those in the next few days.

After lunch, things got crowded, it began to rain and Luke started to melt down a little so we came back to the room.

We got some rest in and instead of heading back to the park, we went over to Disney Springs this evening because Luke wanted to hit up the Lego store. He bought his first real Legos and he and Dillon put them together at dinner.

Tomorrow is Hollywood Studios and meeting Lightning McQueen and Mater! I had scheduled us to go later in the day, but I think we need to go early and get in what we can and then head back to rest in the afternoon. Maybe we'll hit up the playground or the pool tomorrow evening. Only time will tell!

Riding the bus to Disney Springs. Luke and I wanted to fit in with the teenage girls and take a selfie!

Outside the Lego Store!

Driving into Disney World yesterday!

On the bus again...

At dinner putting together our Legos.

Our resort!

A blurry photo, but our first stop was to meet Mickey!

Tinkerbell was nearby so we went ahead and met her too...

We only had to wait 10 minutes to see Elsa and Anna... and Luke said he REALLY wanted to meet them. :P

We also rode on the train. This was Luke's favorite thing (that and riding the buses to and from the parks :P)

Our lunch!

Wearing out...

Leaving the park... :)
