I thought that because she was an easy newborn, she would be an easy baby all along, but even easy babies have rough goes of it and this month has been rocky. She's cried, a lot. She doesn't ever want to be put down and there have been days when all I can do is sit on the couch with her. I'll be honest, my patience has been tried.
But she has had a ton of developments, too (which may account for the grumpiness. Things are scary when there's lots of stuff going on in your little brain). She's almost crawling. She's sitting up unassisted better and better every day. Because she can sit up, she uses high chairs and buggy seats like a champ now (making it easier to transport her). We've just now given up the infant car seat and moved to a convertible in all cars because her legs dangle over the edge of the infant seat and, honestly, I can't carry that danged seat anymore because she's so heavy.
She's started sleeping in her crib and is still sleeping through the night. I had said that I would give her until 6 months and then move her out of our room. It got to the point where we would get her to sleep and when we would come in the room to go to bed, she would wake up. Plus, I think the crib is more comfortable than the pack n play. We have a routine now, for naps and bedtime, where I rock her to sleep. While I was at Bible school this week with Luke, Dillon had a time getting her to sleep, but he persisted and it worked!
She is a super serious baby, too. She's smiley when she first wakes up, but you have to work to get her to laugh and smile the rest of the day. It seems like she analyzes everything to determine what's happening around her.
Things that Charlie likes at 7 months:
* All things Food: So, I tried to do some baby led weaning and I'm just not brave enough for it. She choked on a piece of cantaloupe one day and that was enough for me. I bought her some little paci feeders that you can stick food in and there are holes in it so she can chomp away at food and not get choked. She loves bananas, watermelon, cucumbers, pears... honestly, anything. Baby food related, she eats all and everything in her pouches. Broccoli, zucchini, mangoes, carrots. There is nothing that this child turns her nose up at. I've also let her try little pieces of bread and noodles. She also loves teething biscuits. So, yeah, I think her favorite thing this month is food.
* Books: We have some baby books with hard pages and she LOVES looking through them. While Luke was never much interested in these, I can sit her in her high chair and give her a book and it will occupy her for a good 15 minutes. Maybe a difference in boys and girls? Or just their personalities?
* Lucas: Oh, man, does she love her brother. While she is really serious most of the time, if you have Luke around she is smiley and laughs. She reaches for him constantly and wants to be near him and play like him. Luke loves her, too, and he loves to make her laugh.
* Being active: This child never sits still. Ever. Even when I'm trying to get her to sleep, she rolls and turns and kicks her legs. She always wants down to maneuver her way around. Sometimes when she's really fussy, I just lay her on a blanket on the floor so she can do what she wants and that seems to help.
She still doesn't like riding in the car and wants someone next to her constantly. In Dillon's truck, we worked out that issue by putting Luke's seat right next to her. It seems to help and he entertains her by singing songs and loving on her when she's sad.
Even though this month has been a little rough, she's still the sweetest bouncy, active little girl. We're on the downhill side of her being an infant with only 5 months until her 1st birthday. I can't believe it. We'll blink and it'll be here. Love you bunches, baby girl.
The pictures this month were on point. So was her outfit. Ha! |
He had to have his picture taken too! ha! |
